guitarist playing live at the Croc

The Croc is a spectacular London event space set within the Ham Yard Hotel. Located on the edge of Soho and just moments from Piccadilly Circus, the Croc lies two floors below ground level.

The Croc is extremely spacious and can host up to 250 people. There’s a large bar, a stylish lounge area and dance floor with 3 driftwood crocodiles on the wall which give the Croc its name.

However, the centrepiece of the basement venue is the 1950s bowling alley. Imported from Texas, the alley has 4 lanes, illuminated pins and two large screens to follow the scores on. A nice touch are the vintage bowling shoes available for players to wear.

I have photographed many private events here and the atmosphere is always electric. Of course, the bowling alleys quickly become a draw to guests, but the music plays it part too. The brilliant events team at the Ham Yard have a great suppliers list which includes both DJs and live musicians. This works really well when there is a mixture of the two, rotating sets throughout an evening.

I think the images here show that the Croc is a very photogenic event space and consequently I always come away with fabulous photographs that my clients love. And like all the Firmdale Hotels the emphasis is on style with impressive art and objets d’art everywhere you look.

As I say, the Ham Yard is part of the Firmdale Hotel group and is a short walk from its sister hotel, the Haymarket.  The Haymarket also has a unique event space in its basement which you can read about here.
