Wedding Florist Mary Jane Vaughn

Black and white portrait of Mary Jane Vaughn Florist

Mary Jane Vaughn is undoubtedly one of the best wedding florists in London. I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside her several times in the last few years and it’s always a pleasure to photograph her work.

I recently dropped into her Battersea workshop to have a chat and to take some photographs of her team working away on a gorgeous floral creation.

It was a busy scene and before long Mary Jane had to excuse herself to conduct a client consultation.

Take a look at some great examples of Mary Jane’s work from this wedding we both worked on last year at Fulham Palace

Contemporary Art Auction at Sotheby’s

Jean Michel-Basquiat at Sotheby's

Last week I spent an hour wandering around Sotheby’s in New Bond Street to take a look at the pre-auction exhibition of their latest Contemporary Art sale. The auction itself took place on Wednesday and Thursday and, by all accounts, went well. There were works by photographers Andreas Gursky and Cindy Sherman, the former’s ‘Jame’s Bond Island’ print selling for almost 3/4 of a million pounds!

I snapped a few items that caught my eye (on my iPhone) including the painting above, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Orange Sports Figure which sold for just over £4m.

Tim Noble & Sue Webster’s Happy failed to meet it’s reserve price and was withdrawn from sale (unhappily).

The fun part was watching the auction live via the Sotheby’s website and avoiding the temptation to send in a bid!

Winter Wedding Photographs at Fulham Palace

The weather wasn’t terribly kind to us last Saturday but when you have two such beautiful venues to photograph, then let the meteorological gods do there worse!

Caroline and David’s marriage ceremony was held at their local church, All Saints in Fulham, and, as you can see, there was some wind and rain as the bride arrived.

The flowers were provided by Bunches & Pots in Putney and Caroline’s dress was from Phase 8.

There was some interesting symmetry going on with this wedding; the bride and groom shared the same surname (Cooke) ‘before’ they were married, the bride’s mother has the same first name as the groom’s late mother, Ena and, just for good measure, Caroline has an identical twin sister, Jenny.

After the ceremony it was a short (and soggy) walk across Bishop’s Park to Fulham Palace, the venue for the wedding reception. Once there the guests were served Champagne, canapés and ultimately a delicious wedding breakfast by caterers Bovingdons. The wedding cake, a tower of cup cakes came from Pat a Cake Pat a Cake.

Wedding Photographs in The Independent Newspaper

villa miani wedding venue

Yesterday The Independent ran an eight page wedding guide which contained two of my photographs. The first, on page 3, accompanied an article on wedding planners Linda Cooper & Co. and was a photograph of the Villa Miani in Rome taken at a wedding I covered there a couple of summers ago for Linda.

The second image was on page 6 of the supplement and was part of a feature on florists Floral Accents who I was lucky enough to work with on a wedding at the Surrey venue, Nonsuch Mansion in December. You can see some of the photographs from that wedding here.

Thanks to both my wedding industry colleagues for selecting my photographs to use in the newspaper.
